Grand Rapids Chinese Language School (GRCLS) has been a cornerstone of Chinese language and cultural education in West Michigan since its founding in 1997. Established by three dedicated mothers from the local Chinese community, GRCLS began as an initiative to meet the educational needs of children learning Chinese. Over the years, it has grown into a thriving non-profit organization, offering high-quality language instruction and cultural experiences to students of all ages and backgrounds.

For more than three decades, GRCLS has been committed to serving the Chinese community and fostering cross-cultural connections in West Michigan. Through a wide array of traditional language courses and engaging cultural education activities, we aim to help students develop a deep understanding of the Chinese language and heritage.

Comprehensive Curriculum

At GRCLS, we provide courses for learners of all ages and levels. Whether you’re a child taking your first steps in Chinese, an adult looking to deepen your proficiency, or a non-native speaker eager to explore a new language, there’s a place for you at our school.

Flexible Learning Options

Each semester spans 15 weeks, and students can choose from the following schedules:

  • Option 1: 2 hours of Chinese classes per week + 1 hour of elective classes
  • Option 2: 2 hours of Chinese classes per week
  • Option 3: 1 hour of elective classes per week

Our courses are designed to be both engaging and affordable. For just $7.60 per hour, students can access 2 hours of Chinese classes and 1 hour of electives per week. This cost-effectiveness underscores our mission to make Chinese education accessible to everyone in the community.
